2015 Gumbo Ya Ya Cook Off Winners

2015 Gumbo Cook-off Results The Annual Gumbo Ya~Ya sponsored by Seville Quarter was held on Saturday, February 21, 2015.� Over $2000 was donated to the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Florida organization.� The Cook-off was coordinated by Paula Shell, Executive Director of BB/BS and Buck Mitchell from Seville Quarter.� Twelve�Amateur and Professional teams competed for bragging rights for the �Best Gumbo in Pensacola.� Each team�s Gumbo was judged on taste, smell and consistency and trophies were awarded to the top winners. Winners in the Judges� Category were: 1st�place � Krewe of Seville, �Toga Toga Toga Gumbo� Priscilla Brewer, Captain 2nd�place � Happy Pig Caf�, Captain Mark Thornton 3rd�place � Krewe of DePez, Mark Johnson, Captain In the Showmanship Category (decoration, theme and spirit) the winners were: 1st�place � Gumboeaux �Hunka Hunka Burnin� Gumbo� � Dennis Caire, Captain 2nd�place � Krewe of DePez, Mark Johnson, Captain �3rd�place � Krewe of Seville , �Toga Toga Toga Gumbo� Priscilla Brewer, Captain And in the coveted People�s Choice Competition: 1st�place � Krewe of DePez, Mark Johnson, Captain 2nd�place � Republic National Distributing Co.� Cooking Team - Gene Stieffel Captain 3rd�place � Gumboeaux �Hunka Hunka Burnin� Gumbo� � Dennis Caire, Captain Next Cook-off event:� July 22, 2015 � Crab Cake Cook-Off to benefit the ARC Gateway.� For more information phone Buck Mitchell at 434-6211 or go to�www.sevillequarter.com
