December Product of the Month Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey
Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey
I can be a bit of a bourbon snob so I was hesitant when one of my liquor reps approached me with a flavored whiskey. Why taint perfectly good whiskey with fruit and nut extracts? But I kept an open mind and was surprised how well the peaches and pecans tasted with the whiskey. And the whiskey is the real deal, not grain alcohol based like other flavored whiskey. (I’m thinking of YOU Fireball!)
Old Camp is also another celebrity endorsed liquor that is so prevalent these days. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly of the band Florida Georgia Line actually had a hand in perfecting the recipe for Old Camp. They wanted whiskey that was easy going, reflected Georgia with the peaches and Florida with the pecans. Something you would sip around a bonfire with your friends.
Old Camp is definitely going after a younger demographic and also a whiskey that appeals to females. It’s a fun beverage that tastes natural without excess sugar or high alcohol that panders to the Millennial Generation. It’s great as a shot, neat or on the rocks as it really doesn’t need anything else.
Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey was a big hit in the Bourbon Room at last month’s Seville Quarter Wine & Food Festival. It’s available in Apple Annie’s, End O’The Alley and the Wine Shoppe. Give it a try and you’ll see why it has become my guilty pleasure!
